Teaching

I teach private guitar and banjo lessons and am available for video lessons.
My focus is on fingerstyle guitar and clawhammer banjo styles. For the guitar, I would focus on thumb-work, chord inversions, and different picking styles ranging from country blues, ragtime, and gospel to African two-finger picking, rumba, and more.
For the banjo I would break down the mechanics of clawhammer (or ‘frailing’), and work progressively with the student on easy to intermediate to advanced versions of basic, well-known old time songs.

I can also teach beginner level students of all ages.

Je donne des cours particuliers de guitare et/ou banjo en français également.

  1. Hey Cory,
Hope all is well, as I’ve mentioned in the past here and there I really love your approach to songs and the way you don’t always leave your eggs in one basket. It’s really refreshing and you’ve been a big influence on my playing which has led me to think why I hadn’t thought of it before and get some direct lessons.
I’ve done a few here and there namely Mary Flower and Rolly Brown from Pennsylvania who has weaned me off tab and opened up the fretboard an awful lot with chord extensions substitutions and the like and Woody Mann who has a wealth of knowledge.
The thing I see in you helping is the fact you sing write and arrange in the style mostly I associate myself or would like to.
Let’s say something like taking one of my written songs and helping with ideas arranging for Fingerstyle so they have a couple of breaks as well trad chords for verses in a similar vein to what you do on your songs, breaking down the melody etc
Hope this makes sense.. let me know if it’s possible and rates you charge
    Best
    Ian
